This is a 10 ply maple shell, 14" x 6.5", 10 chrome tube lugs, chrome 'stealth' type throw-off, die cast butt and Puresound Blasters (not pictured). The bearing edges are extremely smooth to allow for precise tuning and the inside of the shell is very smooth as well and has been treated with a tung oil finish. The snare bed is 5" wide x 3/16" deep.
The finish with is a slight fade and a clear gloss urethane. The finish is perfectly glass smooth and has a bit of birdseye figuring on part of the shell.
This snare drum is extremely responsive, articulate and sensitive and has a wide tuning range. The tone is very open and fat and has an amazing dynamic range and it is virtually impossible to get a bad sound from this drum. Rimshots, cross sticking and ghost notes are all as sweet as can be.
Wood snare drums of the same specs all have different characteristics; that's just what you get with wood. We meticulously treat every snare drum as an individual and make sure that the drum is in perfect condition for tuning, range and performance before leaving the shop.
